Earlier this month we released a new version of CMS. Hopefully you've all updated now, but just in case you haven't or if you just wanted a reminder of some of the new features, here are some of the highlights....
Yes, it sounds deadly, but we hope this new feature will make your life easier. Traditionally, whenever a new version of CMS is released you need to update each machine on your network and we know that this can be a real pain, especially if you need to contact your IT company to do this.
Once you have downloaded the new version, CMS will store offline versions of the new files so that any the machines on your network will automatically update without you having to do a thing!
There are a couple of things that you need to be aware of:
1. This great new feature will only work after you have updated CMS on each machine (yes, sadly you won't see any time saving on this release but you will in the future)
2. The update will occur only if CMS has been closed so that it won't interupt you whilst you using it.
We have introduced a new feature that will allow you to set review dates against vitals. This feature is specific to each individual category, so you can set a review reminder for your weights but perhaps not for your fluids. Any vital set with a reminder will appear, as expected, on your shift handiver screen:
With this version we have looked
to improve the online / offline functionality of the CMS Tablet by introducing the Always
Work Offline button.
If Wi-Fi is not strong throughout the home we
recommend that you turn this feature ON as you will find that the tablet will run much more quickly. When this feature is enabled, you will
always record information offline and when you either log in or out (depending on your synch settings) all your data will be updated (provided there is a Wi-Fi signal). You can of course force a synch at any time by clicking the Synch button
Its a mixed day for me today, as its my last day here at Ablyss HQ. Sad because I'll miss the whole wonderful team who I have been working with for years! But also happy, as you can see I am leaving for a very special reason.
A big thank you must go to the whole team who threw me a surprise baby shower with gifts, cake and chuckles. All of them have been wonderful and I will not only miss working with them all, but also the regular catch up and chats.
I'm also going to miss all of the customers I have met over the past few years. It has been a pleasure to meet them all and I'm privileged to now call some of them "friends"
However, I am leaving everyone in very capable hands. Nikki is taking hold of the reins as Sales and Training Manager. I cant think of anybody more capable and suitable to take over from me. And Synesius is also going to be out and about as our new Sales and Training Consultant. He is hard working and such a delightful character, he will certainly do well.
Let's hope they dont do too well without me though, I want to come back next summer!
All that remains for me to say now is, not goodbye, but see you all soon
You can only truly judge a company by their support, and
ours is second to none! We have a team at the end of the phone to help you with
any problems you may have, whether they be system or user errors.
Our friendly support team, comprising Sally, Alex, Nathan
and Callum are praised time and time again for their patience, excellent and
friendly manner and knowledge. There is no problem too small for us to help one
of our customers.
But it’s not just on the telephone where we offer our
CMS comes with a training module to play around with and
try things out for yourself without the risk of corrupting live data as well as
a range of video tutorials which will guide you through any process you may be
In addition to this, our Sales and Training team provide
regular training workshops throughout the UK to help all users get to grips
A lot of our customers ask us whether they should use CMS Touch and CMS Tablet. There is no right or wrong answer, each home's requirements are different and so a different version of CMS will suit them more than the other.
In order to help homes make the decision, we have created a new page on our website showing a comparison between the 2 systems. Why not head over to our the Ablyss site to have a look for yourself?
However, both systems are included within your site license, so there is nothing to stop you choosing to use both!
When researching a new care planning system, your primary
concern’s are usually: “Will my staff find it easy to use” and “Will it be
compliant with CQC regulations”. A number of systems available on the market
will tick both of these boxes, so its time to look a little deeper into each
We believe that reporting is a key element to helping you
run your care home efficiently and effectively on a day to day basis, and so we
have a number of useful inbuilt systems within CMS for both existing residents,
archived residents and specific resident groups. Want up to the minute data? Or
do you need a full or partial historical trail? The reports are there for you.
Here is a report showing a list of all FALLS which have
occurred in a specified period (in this case, the previous 6 months)
As well as the reports already actively available in CMS,
if you want something that is not there, you can either create your own report,
or ask our support team to do it for you.
All reports can be printed, viewed on screen, emailed, or
saved as a PDF, Word document or Excel spreadsheet.
There is also a quick access point for emergency
reporting, for example something to be sent along to hospital with one of your
residents. At the click of a single button, your staff can run a full,
pre-defined, report set.
Please give a big warm welcome to our newest recruit, Synesius Zindere.
Synesius has joined our Sales and Training Team and what a perfect candidate for the role! Synesius was key during the implementation of CMS into one of our new Midlands homes. He has been training the staff there to get to grips with the system and loved it so much he wanted to make a career out of it. Good news for us at Ablyss HQ.
Synesius will be training until early June, but will be available to visit new and existing clients from then. Why not book an appointment to meet him, or pop along to one of the regional care exhibitions where you will see him hard at work.
